Article from the Sidney Daily News:
FORT LORAMIE — The hospital stay for children at Dayton Children’s Hospital will be made a little happier thanks to the generosity of the Fort Loramie and Russia communities.
On Friday, Dec. 11, 2015 the Fort Loramie and Russia communities came together for more than just a basketball game. The Fort Loramie boys basketball program asked people attending the game to donate a toy that would be given Dayton Children’s Hospital. Last year the Anna and Fort Loramie communities came together to donate more than 450 toys.
This year with the help of both communities and the Fort Loramie FCCLA program more than 1,000 toys were donated. In addition to the toys, an anonymous monetarydonation of $1,250 was also made. With the monetary donation the Fort Loramie varsity basketball team went to Walmart Saturday morning to finish purchasing some final toys that were on the Dayton Children’s Wish List.
“This was a truly a special event, I am extremely humbled by the turn out of our 2nd annual Holiday Helpers game,” said Fort Loramie Coach Corey Britton. “The generosity of both the Fort Loramie and Russia communities is unbelievable. Thank you to everyone who donated. The smiles those toys will provide goes a very long way.”
The toys will be delivered by the Fort Loramie senior basketball players on Dec. 30.
