Fort Loramie secured the ball on the tip, and within a few seconds executed the design play to score the first points in the game on a basket by Rose with an assist from Hoelscher. Fort Loramie then forced McDonald into 2 consecutive turnovers allowing them to jump out to a 7 – 0 lead with a basket from Hoelscher and a bomb from Heitkamp. In the opening period Fort Loramie was 8 – 14 from the floor, while limiting the Blue Devils to just 4 attempts. The Redskins were up 17 – 2 after one quarter. 5 different players contributed in scoring.

In the second period, Fort Loramie ran into some foul trouble, and the game went back and forth with the Redskins just outscoring McDonald 13- 10.Dana Rose scored 5 of 13 points for Fort Loramie.

In the third quarter, the Redskins again got after it defensively and created some easy points off transition as they built their lead to 49 – 21. Kenzie Hoelscher led the way with 6 points.

In the final period, Fort Loramie outscored McDonald 11 – 5. Leading all scorers was Kenzie Hoelscher with 12 points and 3 assists. Dana Rose chipped in 11 points, had 5 rebounds, and 5 steals. Heitkamp and Brandewie both finished with 8, and Sholtis had 7.

Fort Loramie shot extremely well making 22 – 39 (56%) while limiting McDonald to 11 – 36 (31%). The Redskins forced 25 turnovers on 17 steals, and out rebounded their opponents by 8. Fort Loramie’s bench scored 23 points, while McDonald’s bench had 0.

Fort Loramie set three OHSAA records in the game: fewest points in allowed in a State Final game (2), lowest score in a state final game (26), and largest margin of victory in a state final game (34 points).

Fort Loramie finished the season with a 29-1 record, which also set a school record for most wins in one season (previously 27 in 2013).

This is the third State Championship for the Redskins: 2013, 2015, and 2021.
